Fantastical - Calendar App Reviews

Great Application! However, it should be cheaper.

Fantastical is great. It makes my life easier and I love it. Everyone at Flexbits: well done. However, it would be good if it was at a lower price point. Moreover, there are still plenty of features that should be added and some polishing that should be done. Overall a spectacular app.

Went back on my word…..sure glad I did

I’m a longtime Fantastical fan on all my devices. I said on a few comment boards that I would never buy this version unless the price went down to $20. It niggled in the back of my mind and finally I pulled the trigger and bought. I have to say the price is steep but the app I think is worth it. For a productivity tool that I use everyday, I can now say that this app is definitely fantastic(al) and worth the money.

Functions the same as iOS EXCEPT...

This was my old review: Crashes every time I try and import an appointment. This tells me 2 things, I bought a $50 calendar that can’t save appoinments unless OSX calendar is my default app, or it came out before it was ready. This is my new review: Flexbits just tricked me into a 50 dollar upgrade to be frustrated that is crashes everytime I import an appointment, AND every time I email support be doomed to get no reply. 7 days, and not even an acknowledgement despite several emails and reaching out on social media. Don’t need an immediate fix(though it would be nice!), just want to know the developers care enough to listen.

Great for those looking for a solid Calendar

I really like that this intergates perfectly with google Calendar with a much better interface. The options for location based reminders for the iPhone version really closed it for me. Great features, very stable and great integration. I have had no experience with Fantastical before and mainly used google Calendar from my Phones and IMac. So those looking for something good to intergrate to google calendar - look no further.

Simply the best

Latest update to 2.0.2 solved my installation probs. Have Fantastical on iPhone, iPad and iMac desktop now. Seamless flow between all. Only calendar I use. As the name suggests, it is Fantastical. Seven stars

I really love this app

Here are some things that I loved right away: 1) Ability to change the number of hours shown in a day in the Week view. 2) Agenda and mini calendar on the sidebar 3) The mini calendar is a nifty addition 4) Customizable text size for agenda 5) Ability to group specific calendars into different sets 6) Ability to change calendar colors from within the app. This was very useful for me when adding my Gmail calendar. Overall a very positive calendar experience. Feature Request; I don’t know if this would be appropriate in the upcoming update, but I would really love to see a day countdown timer for customizable events. It woudl be great to consolidate reminders, calendar and a countdown timer into Fantastical. This would be a killer feature for me!

New update does not open

I love this app but this new update does not open. What’s up Flexbits?

Great replacement for the Apple Calendar

Best calendar app for the desktop. At a glance and detail views are wonderful and the natural language input is still like magic.

Great App - Not So Great Price

I use this App every day, and at the start it helped sync all my calenders from different programs. It is easy to use and set up new calenders. Nothing bad to say about the App itself. I also noticed they come out with updates very regularly, fixing any bugs and always adding to the performance side of their app. If you have the money to spend (50$) when I bought it for my Mac, and use calenders everyday - then get it. However if you are not religously using calenders to keep all your appointments in line - then just use the basic calander app on the Mac computer.

Best calendar app out there

Cut, copy, and paste! FINALLY! Five stars, just for that feature. But seriously, this app is awesome. Well worth the price.

Awesome !!

This is just an awesome little calendar app. Took me a little while to figure it out, mainly due to the fact that I am a bit dim when it comes to this kind of stuff. I don’t buy many apps. But I really do love this one. Get it, you won’t regret it. RR

I can’t print ???

Maybe I’m missing something but I can’t find how to print from this app like I did with the standard iCal app. Can this be in another update? That would be amazing!!!! Aside from that - pure awesomeness

Best of the bunch for me

I’ve spent too much money on calendar/reminder options. iCal is too basic for me but will work for many. BusyCal worked fine but I found myself fighting with the interface at times and I don’t need that in my busy day. I was running Informant on my iPad and iPhone but found its interface a bit fiddly too. Fantastical 1’s menubar dropdown was handy but I wanted a full screen calendar. Fantastical 2 is working very well for me. I like the common look and feel with the iPhone and iPad Fantastical apps. What I like best is that I can post and manage events and reminders without thinking much about the user interface. The notifications screen widgets in iOS are wonderful. The expense adds up to a night out treating my wife and I, for software I use all day every day. It’s well worth it. Couple of minor things: I like having the full screen window on my second monitor but it disappears at times and I have to restart to bring it back. I haven’t found a way to print the calendar in F2 on my iMac. I don’t use busy time search so don’t miss it, but others might. I imagine these are wrinkles that the devs will iron out in time. Update: Version 2.1 added some very nice features that made Fantastical even easier to use. Arrow keys scroll days and weeks. Reminders show in month view. More. Nice! Update: The new Watch OS2 complication in the iPhone app is the icing on the cake. Easiest way now to check off shopping lists on the run.

Fantastic calendar app!

Fantastical is amazing. I’ve been using it for almost a year now after switching from a competitor app. The intuitive text input is great and the layout and view of the calendar makes it very easy to read. Especially useful is the sidebar with list of events and monthly calendar view, which makes it easy to plan events. The reminders intergration is also handy, and now reminders appear in your calendar. I use a third party to do app that syncs with reminders, but find it very useful to be able to see all my meetings and to dos for the week in one space. Fantastical has a great developer team. The developers have been actively updating this application and are very responsive to user feedback. Case in point, I submitted a feature request a few months back regarding an option not to have the calendar revert to today’s date after entering an event. The developer wrote to me thanking for my input and said they would certainly consider it. Lo and behold a recent update included that feature. Talk about responsive! Each new version has added new features that make it even better to use. Only drawback is that Fantastical 2 does not support printing (something most ical replacement apps don’t do), but as a work around you can still open your calendars synced with ICloud in Apple’s Calendar app and print from there. Fantastical 2 is really fantastic. A calendar is something you use every day, and Fantastical 2 is well worth the investment!

The app you need!

Yes, it’s a little pricy… But, it’s the best you can get! My favorite feature is that you get your reminders in your calendar! So no more jumping between thos app. And I hate the reminder app… so much…

The best Calendar app.

Fantastical is the best calandar app on the Mac. The fluent parsing of calendar events is unparalled anywhere else. The integration with different calendars is not automatic but simple. A great app overall.

The best.

Just buy it, it’s gold.

This is amazing

I bought the app at fisrt for my iPhone, then for my iPad and I loved it. Then I tought Fantastical2 was a bit expensive for my Macbook but I still bought it, NO REGRETS, this app is GREAT! Now my iPhone, iPad and Mac all work together and I love it! This is a MUST HAVE if you use your calendar and reminders a lot. Thank you Fantastical!

Waste of money

I’ve been using this app as my main calendar app for the past 3 months, with Google calendar. For visibility, I wrote the exact same review in the iOS app store as the issues are exactly the same. I was really excited at first, but I uncovered a number of missing features that I really needed for use at work: - Push notifications for incoming calendar invites do not work or are VERY delayed. I have to rely on my email to notify me of incoming invites. Opening the app and refreshing the invites will then make the invite show up. That’s a big problem for me. - Along the same lines, cancelled events don’t actually update until you open the app. For example, my colleague cancels an event a week from now. If I don’t open the app for a week, I will get a reminder about the event, even though it has been cancelled. That’s extremely annoying as I can no longer trust event notifications. - Cannot invite people to events not created by me. Again, I have to rely on Google calendar to invite people to events that are not created by me. Overall, I like the NLP part of the app and how it works. UI is a bit unintuitive, but I somewhat got used to it. Lastly, I think the app would be an okay-ish replacement for a light calendar user, provided that it would be made free. Price definitely not justified. It’s actually the first app I’ve ever bought that I feel I wasted my money on. Don’t waste your money with this one if you care about push notifications and editing invites.

fantatic product

I totally love this app. Rarely do I ever use Cal.app anymore, only once in a while. The ability to enter appointments very quickly and to review the coming appointments very quickly is what make this product particularly useful. I certainly recommend it.
